For making me feel that much more awesome :)
I absolutely love it when I see people writing their papers in class and then tell the professor "All I have to do is print it because my printer at home was not working; can I give it to you right after class?" Now, I am noooo perfect student and have turned in my fair share of late papers/projects (and paid for it with docked grades which are expected)- but I would NEVER do it in class and then lie about it! If the paper is due at the BEGINNING of class... that should count as late.
So, a classmate of mine decided to call this person out on a break. "Wow, must be nice to get away with that." And I had to laugh. The student responds, "Well, it is just so hard for me to stay on top of things- I have to commute from _____ 3 times a week and I am taking 4 classes." I sat there and waited to hear more added onto that and there was nothing more. WOW... I wish I only had to commute 3 days a week! I also sat and thought about other people's schedules.
My schedule has always consisted of 5 classes (6 last fall), and 2-3 jobs (one of which was going to Yakima 3 times per week and out of town every other weekend for tournaments) while still getting a 4.0 :) (I have to brag a little bit). I commute from far out Pasco- but I enjoy that car time! :) Now, I am not trying to say my schedule is hard or anything (I choose to have it pretty intense) but come on? Compared to the first one- interesting.
Now to make it even better.. one of my good friends takes 4 classes, (one of which is always a Master's class)is a single mother, works full time AND has 3 children (one of which has Cerebral Palsy) and a grandchild in her home. Not to mention she isn't even 38 yet! This woman is a dear friend of mine and works her ass off to do well. Now compare this to the first one- even more interesting.
So apparently, I am not sympathetic. It used to actually really make me mad- but what is the point? There isn't one. Definitely not worth it anymore... only to give myself a little humor from time to time and a little boost for my ego.
*and to be completely honest.. my schedule might seem like cake compared to many others and I know that- which is why I try not to complain... too much :)I do live a good life.
