No, not the word that slips out of your mouth on occasion or quite frequently when you’re mad: a completely different word. A word for some reason I choke on when I try to say it. I do not think it is because I don’t love being this word… it is just SO different and it represents a huge life change. The word that makes people instantly grab your hand searching for something once they hear it or begin to ask a million and one questions…Do you know what it is yet? Fiancé. Yes, that is right. I am one of those things now (have been for about 3 months now- but am just getting around to finally posting it). :) I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am and how much I look forward to what the future holds. It is kind of crazy thinking that one thing for sure is set for the rest of my life… but it feels so good at the same time! Everything else is sort of a blur, but what an amazing blur that will be to try and figure out with my best friend.
We recently celebrated our 3rd year together and damn, time sure does fly when you’re having fun! Who would have thought… three years ago this significantly taller than me, blue-eyed, brown-haired, and not to mention mighty fine guy that I sat next to on the first day of a college math class would be the one. I think our math teacher knew. With his heavy African accent, the first words welcoming all to his class were, “Math is love my people, math is love.” Of course, this stud and I ended up having a couple of mutual friends which led to get-togethers where I would get to see him more and more… which led to note passing in class…which led to the professor quoting himself when he would ask me to tutor him… “Ah, sweet math love”… which led to the ever so obvious attempt to give me a hug goodnight which I declined until the words, “Ah come on, math is love, we have math love together, don’t leave me hanging”- Of course, I was a sucker and couldn’t decline. I am sure glad I didn’t. That night we stayed up until 6am talking about ourselves, our families, school, and our life’s goals- little did we know… we would be accomplishing them together 3 years later and furthermore.
Why I have a hard time saying that word, I do not know.
One thing I do know, life would not be the same without him.
Our first date
3 years later
woot woot!
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best in this next adventure! But you already knew that because I already knew this because we are cool like that. Anyway, I really don't like this f-word. I prefer potential ball and chain or pbc for short. Maybe mr. right? Maybe one lucky dude? I don't know, but I am with you in that fiance just sounds weird.
You seriously just made my night! That was the best.. and yes.. we are TOTALLY cool like that.. no doubt about that! hmm.. PBC I like the sound of that :)
